Belgian Sites Tour

The Lacemaker's Secret, the 9th Chloe Ellefson Mystery, is set among northeast Wisconsin's Belgian settlements. This tour will provide a unique foray into Belgian-American heritage, history, and architecture.
The ticketed programming will take place from 10 AM - 5 PM on Saturday, July 9, 2022, beginning and ending at the Belgian Heritage Center in Brussels, WI.
Great Fire Presentation
This powerful program will be provided by Barb Chisholm, historian at the Belgian Heritage Center. The Great Fire, which happened on October 8, 1871, was devastating for southern Door County’s Belgian community. Barb’s great-grandparents survived the fire by hiding in a well, and part of her presentation shares her great-grandmother’s experience.
BHC Campus Tour
This short walking tour includes the former St. Mary of the Snows church, school/convent, and St. Roche votive chapel.
Booyah, Bread, & Belgian Pie Lunch
Participants will sample local favorites at the BHC.
Guided Bus Tour of Namur National Landmark Historic District
Experience Belgian culture and tradition on a narrated tour of the largest Belgian settlement in the United States. The tour will include Belgian architecture, roadside chapels, and the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help.
The Lacemaker's Secret Presentation
Back at the BHC, enjoy an illustrated program from author Kathleen Ernst which reveals the artifacts and stories that inspired this Chloe Ellefson Mystery. A book signing will follow.
An optional add-on will take place at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Heritage Hill State Historical Park in Green Bay, WI.
Informal Belgian Farm Tour
Meet Kathleen at Heritage Hill State Historical Park's Belgian Farm to explore the home featured in The Lacemaker's Secret. Participants will be responsible for their own admission, and are welcome to come early to explore the rest of the park.

- A 7% administration fee will be held for all cancellations, whether an individual's plans change or unpredictable world events force a postponement.
- Otherwise, individuals will receive a full refund for cancellations made up to two weeks out from the tour, and a 50% refund for cancellations made between two weeks and five days before the tour.
